happy birthday, mummy / company dinner 2011

It’s a Wednesday afternoon and I’m lying on my bed with nothing to do.

Hoorayyyyy! It’s the one and only break of the year – lunar new year – where we get a whooping 15 16 days of holidays. So happy I can die right now, or maybe not ’cause it’s time to celebrateeeeee.

I believe I’m someone who cannot be doing nothing.

Just yesterday night, I got so excited with the idea of having a long break that I couldn’t sleep and kept thinking of what to do with Little Red Heels during this period – the only time I can put in my 101% without feeling bad.

So I was awake all the way to six-ish am and came up with a business proposal which should help us get things into place and in auto pilot mode when Zi finally goes away to US indefinitely come March. Yay!

Yes, we are still hiring.

In fact, we haven’t start interviewing so keep your resumes coming. And we have also upped from 1 full timer to TWO. If things work out, we will be needing more along the way but it’s good for now. I’ll upload the details when Zi has gone through the proposal and we clearly know all that these new hires have got to do – primarily launch-centric (design, creative, stylish) and operations-centric (customer oriented, neat, focus).

I sense that this year is going to be a really exciting one, and come what may, we’ll work it all out.

Last Saturday, the 3 corners of CP gathered force and sat down together for a company dinner.

We deliberately planned it on Mummy’s birthday so we could celebrate it together! Collin & I did some shopping before that to grab a nice Mango Tart from Rive Gauche, and between the siblings, we got her a classic Chanel wallet which is total love!

Meh, the very same wallet I forgo a year back for my Prada saffiano ’cause the latter is cheaper and less fragile. But I could see she really likes it and it’s all the more awesome because we all know it’s something that she would never buy for herself. My mum is sort of your thrifty housewife next door and I think we all rubbed off a little of that (brother, me, sissy; in decreasing order).

Because I’m lazy to attach all the pictures, here’s some highlights and the rest are little thumbnails so happy clicking!

No one does the pout as well as Felky does. Well well..

And I just have to share this,
lesson learnt: latecomers get drenched.

Family Shot.

Everyone say, HUAT AH!

littleredheels is hiring / fat boys at joochiat

Busy busy.

So it’s official. Zi, my dear partner ever since Little Red Heels started in 2006, the girl was who crazy enough to dabble into the vast unknown blogshop world as we dug high and low for places that sells accessories ‘spare parts’, the partner in crime who photocopied a hell thick stack of recipes from the office during our part time stint at St***ub, the skinny bitch who ate bread with me for lunch and dinner when we were part timers at the aforementioned, the chic one who applied for the awesome ex-UOB mini debit card together, the workaholic who worked OT like mad and maxed out all the shifts, the apparently meek and quiet one until you know her more, (and there is so much more we share in this years of friendship),

we have a lot of ugly photos. -_-” it’s okay, everyone has a past. -____-”"

… IS GOING TO NYC TO WORK FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG.

In her words, indefinitely.

Short and succinct. When she first told me one morning and over the phone, it caught me off guard and she was being so vague that I just sat on my bed and kept tearing. (You owe me one, girl. Grrr.)

Then Zi told me she will come back eventually, “because everything is here”. I am quoting you on that ’cause I am not too sure about words like that. Everything is a floating word that can change with time, space and people. But I’m still going to hang on to that and hope we’ll grow LRH to a stage where you have to come back because you cannot find work and passion combined so neatly!

After many grueling moments, we finally met and trashed things out. So we are going to work out this 12 hours difference. LRH will still run as it is, except that we are all going to have dedicated roles which are more or less fair between the 2 of us – just that I’ll probably do the more localised things like sourcing, and she will do the more virtual things like accounts (which makes sense, she’s an accounts grad, hello?) – and the rest of the stuff we don’t need or don’t want to do, we’ll just hire staff to help us! So yes,

LITTLEREDHEELS IS HIRING!

Work perks include awesome bosses who are young and hot, preview of the hottest and latest items on LRH, and lots more which I shall not divulge.

Interested parties may apply to littleredheels@gmail.com. We are looking for honest, tech savvy people who are customer oriented and eloquent in English. You can be anal we don’t care, as long as it is (or you are) not crazy and over the top.

Ohhh, apply ok? Or recommend someone you know is awesome. Many loves ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ in advanced!

Good food must be shared, and last week, we stumbled upon FAT BOYS at Joo Chiat Road. This is the 2nd outlet to their Upper Thomson flagship shop, and is fresh in happening eastside for 2 weeks. I never been to the latter but this one at Joo Chiat is awesome max. For once, burgers don’t taste like junk. BTW: I have nothing against junk food btw, I like junk food and for burgers, my favourite is McD’s fillet-o-fish without tartar sauce *yummy*!

We go to EwF alot, and I wonder why I didn’t notice it since it is diagonally across the road. It was bustling that day when we went but food was still good (9/10) and so was the service (7.5/10).

They had the option of concocting your own burger (which Collin went for) or ordering something from the list (I ordered Swiss Shrooms). They also serve all day breakfast – think thick waffles, eggs, sausages and bacons – which I didn’t get to try ’cause they ran out of something that day. I’ll definitely go back there again!

And no, I don’t want to move out of the east, can? If I may, Joo Chiat is fantastic ’cause it has all my favourite food!

Last but not least,

just because the camera lighting is so awesome on my iPhone 4 that day!

Two more weeks to CNY and can’t wait for the long awaited break! Hang in there, everybody! : )

this saturday is reminiscing my birthday 2010.

My birthday is well one month back and only now that I’m finally blogging about it.
Such efficiency I know. Urps.

So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN.
So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN.
So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN.
So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN.
So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN.

(delusion, just ignore me)

As you grow older, birthdays are spent with quiet groups of people
you love and have collected over the years of living.

Not meaningless massive crowd of people at clubs.
(#1 sign of aging)

My birthday started days advance with 2 other FEB babies of the family.
And because it was just after CNY, we first lohei to a great year ahead!

This family I love and grew up with.

Almost always followed by mahjong!
(#2 sign of aging)

They taught me being down to earth, how happiness can be simple,
what family is, and how care and sincerity works.

thank you

The immediate night before my birthday was spent with,
JANEY BANEY!

She is undisputedly the most precious takeaway from my ex-job. : )

ICE EDGE CAFE
2 KOVAN RD #01-10 SIMON PLAZA

Jane is always full of funny ideas, and she did it again by giving me
Bird’s Nest from Eu Yan Sang. Thanks Jane and Leon!
(#3 sign of aging)

Haha. I needed that and have taken 2 out of 6 till date.
Feels very indulgent. I likey.

The most resourceful, the nicest and real, the one that always something up the sleeves.
This girl I love! Don’t ever disappear from my life ok?

thank you

Scurried to Meng’s house after meeting Jane
’cause they are complaining that the b’day girl is late.
How can, right? Haha. It’s my privilege! *flicks hair

These people are constant in my life the past 12 years. (#4 sign of aging)
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Normally natural camwhores, I don’t know why we took so long to arrange this group shot.

OMG! And they are crazy enough to get me the sewing machine from my b’day wish list.

It’s now still in box and comfortably sitting at a corner of my room. Haha.
But I love it nonetheless, just have to get my ass to the free sewing lesson
so I know how to operate it and not cause a fire in the house.

Satisfied recipient (right) with THE gorgeous buyer (left).
(cue: applause)

Dearest ever UG, you guys are superly precious, and we don’t have to say much.
Cliche, but yes, FRIENDS FOREVER! Heh. : )

thank you

As Collin has lovingly planned our V-day,
I decided to cut him some slacks by planning my b’day breakfast!

Borrowed my sis’ Copen ’cause I intend to travel a fair bit for this place.
It was meant to be a surprise to him but silly me left my iPhone on while googling for the place.

But he played along until we reach the place and I couldn’t find the cafe,
even though it was right smacked in front of me.

RIDERS CAFE
51 FAIRWAYS DRIVE

Impossibility to get here without a car, but after you reach,
the rest is history ’cause the place is beautiful.

We had the legendary pancakes and this breakfast set thing.
Forgot the names but they were both great!

For the ambience and food, we’ll definitely be back for more. : )

The day was spent walking around town from one boutique to another
to get the present for myself, as a reward for all the hard work the past 1 year at LXXLA.

We went to Prada (4 times), LV (3 times), Chanel, Gucci,  Miu Miu,
Loewe, Hermes, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Ferragamo, etc.
Machiam making a life and death decision.

Poor Collin, but thankyouthankyouthankyou lovelovelove!

I eventually decided on the classic black Saffiano leather Prada wallet.

That ends the many years of wondering if I prefer a whatever wallet with a lot of money inside,
or a nice wallet with not so much money inside. Because when you start earning your own keep,
you CAN have the best of both worlds. In moderation of course.

For dinner, Collin brought us to this Japanese restaurant at Telok Ayer Street
that serves insanely nice soft shell crab california roll.

thank you

Last but not least, to ZI and JACKSON,
for buying one of the most functional items ever:

TARGUS USB HUB

I bet your eyes twitch every so once in a while
’cause I use it every single day and never fail to look at it
and thank its presence! Works like a dream.

Best tech accessory ever.

To my favourite couple, I love you guys!
Sincerely, really, deeply.

thank you

And that’s my, erhem, EIGHTEEN b’day!
