The Opulence / 1st Quarter Release

I don’t know how people do it.

Blogging is a conscious effort.

You have to give respect to the bloggers of the world. This poor blog of mine is dwindling from weekly updates to monthly updates, and now finally, a quarterly update of some kind.

Anyhow, to those 40 odd people who have been checking my blog almost everyday (just checked my stats), I don’t know who you guys are but hell yeah, thank you very much.

Let’s see.. life has been good and kind. I’m kept busy, but finally grasping the concept of giving myself a break every now and then.

Work is good.

Collin & I are still together.

Family & friends are wonderful.

Health is seemingly better than ever.

Pebble is still the most awesome dog alive.

How I Met Your Mother is my latest TV addiction.

I am also aging at an incredible speed from this moment on, which I know doesn’t make sense since the seconds tick at the same speed as per thousands of years back.

When you were 12, you never thought you’ll be 18. When you were 16, you never thought you’ll be 20. When you are 21, you’ll never thought you’ll be 25. Now that I am twenty-freaking-wtf-seven, I can only think omfg-i-am-turning-freaking-three-zero. Even saying the exact number is vulgar to me right now. (No offence to the older people around. It’s me, I’m crazy.)

Life is short. You don’t even know what happens to the world after you are gone, so really, they ain’t kidding when they say,

live your life to the fullest.

Super cliche. yes yes. Wait till you are old, handicapped, health and beauty long gone – don’t sit and moan about the things you could have done and the places you always wish to go.

OR the things you could have bought. Hahahahaha. Perfect excuse for shopaholics!

OH! I think I just found reason number two for buying the iPad 3. Wait for it..

#whyineedanipad3 reason#2 So that I can BLOG!

(Yeah right, I know).

I did tryyy to blog using Notepad but that entry died together with my one week old iPad. Long story. Basically the iPad has a faulty display which caused it do ghostly things like automatically scrolling, clicking and typing (favorite letter, T & G). I freaked out when it first happened ’cause I happened to sitting under a flickering light and was alone at the office. *sweats* So we returned it for a one to one exchange last Saturday, and in all yayness, is getting the replacement tomorrow!

The iPad really made me quite happy. I don’t know why. I think it goes with my thing for screens. Collin always say I get sucked into the TV, regardless how crappy the programs are. Heh, best money spent after a long mulling over iPad 1 AND 2.

For the curious, that entry was on a movie I watched on the inflight entertainment, My Week with Marilyn (2011).

I love it.

I was really drawn in, that charisma, impeccable and inspiring. Everyone wants to be Marilyn Monroe.

Go watch it! : )

this saturday is reminiscing my birthday 2010.

My birthday is well one month back and only now that I’m finally blogging about it.
Such efficiency I know. Urps.

So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN.
So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN.
So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN.
So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN.
So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN. So I am EIGHTEEN.

(delusion, just ignore me)

As you grow older, birthdays are spent with quiet groups of people
you love and have collected over the years of living.

Not meaningless massive crowd of people at clubs.
(#1 sign of aging)

My birthday started days advance with 2 other FEB babies of the family.
And because it was just after CNY, we first lohei to a great year ahead!

This family I love and grew up with.

Almost always followed by mahjong!
(#2 sign of aging)

They taught me being down to earth, how happiness can be simple,
what family is, and how care and sincerity works.

thank you

The immediate night before my birthday was spent with,
JANEY BANEY!

She is undisputedly the most precious takeaway from my ex-job. : )

ICE EDGE CAFE
2 KOVAN RD #01-10 SIMON PLAZA

Jane is always full of funny ideas, and she did it again by giving me
Bird’s Nest from Eu Yan Sang. Thanks Jane and Leon!
(#3 sign of aging)

Haha. I needed that and have taken 2 out of 6 till date.
Feels very indulgent. I likey.

The most resourceful, the nicest and real, the one that always something up the sleeves.
This girl I love! Don’t ever disappear from my life ok?

thank you

Scurried to Meng’s house after meeting Jane
’cause they are complaining that the b’day girl is late.
How can, right? Haha. It’s my privilege! *flicks hair

These people are constant in my life the past 12 years. (#4 sign of aging)
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Normally natural camwhores, I don’t know why we took so long to arrange this group shot.

OMG! And they are crazy enough to get me the sewing machine from my b’day wish list.

It’s now still in box and comfortably sitting at a corner of my room. Haha.
But I love it nonetheless, just have to get my ass to the free sewing lesson
so I know how to operate it and not cause a fire in the house.

Satisfied recipient (right) with THE gorgeous buyer (left).
(cue: applause)

Dearest ever UG, you guys are superly precious, and we don’t have to say much.
Cliche, but yes, FRIENDS FOREVER! Heh. : )

thank you

As Collin has lovingly planned our V-day,
I decided to cut him some slacks by planning my b’day breakfast!

Borrowed my sis’ Copen ’cause I intend to travel a fair bit for this place.
It was meant to be a surprise to him but silly me left my iPhone on while googling for the place.

But he played along until we reach the place and I couldn’t find the cafe,
even though it was right smacked in front of me.

RIDERS CAFE
51 FAIRWAYS DRIVE

Impossibility to get here without a car, but after you reach,
the rest is history ’cause the place is beautiful.

We had the legendary pancakes and this breakfast set thing.
Forgot the names but they were both great!

For the ambience and food, we’ll definitely be back for more. : )

The day was spent walking around town from one boutique to another
to get the present for myself, as a reward for all the hard work the past 1 year at LXXLA.

We went to Prada (4 times), LV (3 times), Chanel, Gucci,  Miu Miu,
Loewe, Hermes, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Ferragamo, etc.
Machiam making a life and death decision.

Poor Collin, but thankyouthankyouthankyou lovelovelove!

I eventually decided on the classic black Saffiano leather Prada wallet.

That ends the many years of wondering if I prefer a whatever wallet with a lot of money inside,
or a nice wallet with not so much money inside. Because when you start earning your own keep,
you CAN have the best of both worlds. In moderation of course.

For dinner, Collin brought us to this Japanese restaurant at Telok Ayer Street
that serves insanely nice soft shell crab california roll.

thank you

Last but not least, to ZI and JACKSON,
for buying one of the most functional items ever:

TARGUS USB HUB

I bet your eyes twitch every so once in a while
’cause I use it every single day and never fail to look at it
and thank its presence! Works like a dream.

Best tech accessory ever.

To my favourite couple, I love you guys!
Sincerely, really, deeply.

thank you

And that’s my, erhem, EIGHTEEN b’day!

this tuesday is my birthday!

It’s my birthday, and everyone knows how old I am, either that or they all know how afraid I am to turn a year older. As much as I am delusional and claims I’m eighteen (hey! I was eighteen last year as well!), fact is you simply don’t turn older ok? Older is a term reserved for teenagers; aging is more like it. Ahhhhhhh!

So well, I am ‘eighteen’. As my dearest Jane has said, age is just a number.

And man, I have truly live up all my years thus far – wrong decisions, right decisions – I must have made more right ones to be surrounded by so many loved ones! I’m blessed. Thanks for being there, you and you and you and you and you and you and youuuuuu! :)

Off for my surprise breakfast which I’ve planned for myself. Haha!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

I’ll update soon!!

this friday is pamper and ♥.

Pampering myself by going to facial and mani+pedi with sis in a while.
Very last minute I know, if they screwed up anything, it’s screwed up.
Haha, but it should be fine!

Love because Collin has planned something for us in advance for v-day
and this time round, he is not telling. I say he is getting better at this
’cause I totally have no idea; maybe except that

it involves Sentosa,

it’s not taxing – quoting him “the most taxing part is getting to Sentosa”,

plus these abstract clues he wrote on my whiteboards (my christmas present from him):

So exciting! I’ll keep you guys updated what’s up!

The ball is now thrown back in my court,
and I think I have a v-day present in mind that he will rather adore as well.♥

Finally,

my birthday wish list

(updated 27MAR2010)

Chanel classic wallet (OOS, on waiting list) - wait no more, bought a Prada instead

USB hub - Zi & Jack got a Targus USB hub for me!

Things that I don’t really need but it’s nice to have:

BB - I think I still like my iPhone

DSLR - idontneeditidontneeditidontneedit

Sewing machine - UG got this for me, awwww.

Meh, not a very good list but there really isn’t anything that I really need/want.
What might always work will be a hell lot of stationery and maybe a subscription to yoga (or any fitness) class. The former to feed my obsession, the latter to end my procrastination (but please don’t sign me up alone).

I’m so difficult but that’s how eighteen years olds are like. *erhem

If you can think of something else, do go ahead!

UG, we shall not be procrastinators this year! : )

One day before THE day.

Gulps. I am kind of downplaying THE day – my form of denial that I am really ageing numerically. I try to remember the lesson taught in Tuesdays with Morrie. That I’ve been 19 and now it is my turn to be 2_, and I should hence probably embrace it.

Gulp gulps. I am not ageing gracefully, am I?

Mister CG is having a morning mid-sem test and that would mean no concrete plans for the day. (He told me, shop and eat, shop and eat.) I am not expecting anything out of him actually. So anything out of the blue would probably surprise me. But knowing him, oh wells.

It takes 2_ years to finally realise that it’s best not to have expectations. ‘Cause in that case, you will never be disappointed. And any good that came out of it will be a pleasant surprise. :)

Goodbye, wilful adolescence.

Hello, eternal youthfulness. (Heh.)

And not forgetting the self-confidence and self-assurance that comes along with erm, age the years. Life is good! Hope things are flowing for you too. :)

P.S. The meet up with UG yesterday night was brief but to say the least, therapeutic. You guys are great, really great. Need I say more?
